WSI is a research corporation that specializes in just about all facets of the Internet. WSI provides training, education and a network of production resources to its franchisees across the world. The network of resources includes specialists in graphic design, programming, and pay per click management, website development, hosting, email marketing and social media.
Stephen Petersen purchased a WSI franchise license in the summer of 2004. He went through a 6 week on-line training programming followed by an intensive one week classroom training program in Toronto Canada to become a Certified Internet Consultant. Previous to purchasing a WSI franchise Stephen was Vice President of an electronics manufacturing company. Stephen has extensive experience in manufacturing and spent almost 30 years in various manufacturing roles including engineering, production, quality control, purchasing and even marketing.
It is not surprising then that Stephen is focused on helping manufacturing companies with their internet marketing and web development. "I think a lot of my clients were initially surprised when they saw this web developer with so much knowledge in the manufacturing area". Said Stephen Petersen, "It really makes a big difference when you understand the business and lingo of a company".
Initially Stephen used the WSI network to provide search engine optimization services, but soon found that this was an area of high personal interest. Over the course of a year, Stephen took a number of courses and seminars and attended numerous conferences as well as subscribed to several research companies and soon became a search engine optimization specialist. "SEO is a lot of analytical work, and that is something I always excelled at throughout my career". Said Stephen, "my extensive background in statistics and analysis really helps my SEO work." Although Stephen would reluctantly admit that there might be just a tad of art in his work.
Currently, Lakeville WSI only has 2 full time employees and 2 contract workers. He has built his business by serving his customers well, getting a lot of referral business and by developing partnerships with several marketing firms that use his SEO skills. Some of his clients include school districts, non profit organizations, manufacturing companies, consulting firms, advertising companies and professional services.
