Aaron LaCrate was born and bred on the gritty streets of East Baltimore, some of the same streets where HBO’s, The Wire was filmed. Aaron has become an internationally renowned designer, DJ, producer, CEO and creator of Milkcrate™ clothing. Aaron is best known for bringing innovative fashion, graphics, artists, and music into the spotlight and developing trend-setting designs for his Milkcrate™ RTW and accessory collection.
At the age of 10, a young skateboard punk, LaCrate began experimenting with DIY culture. He started hand drawing, and airbrushing custom t-shirts for fri, DJ’ing at local hot spots, and writing graffiti. His first music studio was in his basement where he created mix-tapes and t-shirts to sell throughout Baltimore. LaCrate was the youngest working DJ in Baltimore prior to attending Syracuse University, where he took over the campus music scene. He spent summers in NYC interning for Def Jam, Island Records, Payday and Roc-a-fella Records helping with the launch of Jay-Z’s classic album Reasonable Doubt.
As a music producer, Aaron LaCrate has given the B-more edge to mega pop stars, Madonna, Lily Allen, Dizzee Rascal, Souljah Boy, The Cool Kids, Amanda Blank, and many more. “Originally hip-hop was about being creative, having fun and partying – I’ve never forgotten that! – Aaron says.
