LANHAM, Md. & DENVER - (Business Wire) Merkle (www.merkleinc.com), one of the nations largest and fastest growing database marketing agencies, today announced the hiring of Rich Fleck as Vice President, Strategic Services for Merkles Interactive Services division. In this role, Fleck will be responsible for further developing customized data-driven marketing approaches that help Merkles clients improve the performance of their interactive marketing programs.

Fleck has served as a consultant to several leading brands, including Pepsi, Sony, Microsoft and Intel. Prior to joining Merkle, Fleck was Vice President, Strategic Services, at Epsilon Interactive, and was formerly a leader in the Strategic Services group at DoubleClick. Earlier, Fleck co-founded a boutique analytics consulting firm and also served as a consultant for Accenture. Fleck has worked on the client side as well, managing the online analytics functions for two Internet start-ups, SafeRent.com (acquired by First Advantage) and Gear.com (purchased by Overstock.com).

Fleck said, I see my role as continuing the expansion of Merkles proven data-driven approach to maximizing interactive marketing channels. Our clients customers engage with all interactive touchpoints search, banner displays, email and websites. To keep pace with customers changing behavior, the most effective marketing strategy should integrate data across these channels, create a more comprehensive view of customer behavior, and leverage knowledge from each channel to make the collective strategy more effective. My goal is to help Merkles clients build this integrated and actionable view of their customers.

Eric Kirby, senior vice president and general manager of Merkles Interactive Services division, said, Through his work with many recognized brands across numerous vertical markets, Rich brings valuable experience to Merkle in the areas of interactive marketing and analytics. He also brings an understanding of what it is like to be on the client side, which makes him highly aware of challenges, resources and constraints facing marketers today."
