OLYMPIA, Wash., July 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Washington Attorney General Rob McKenna will be a featured speaker at a Northwest Indian Gaming Conference and Expo on July 16, 2008 in Shelton during the association's annual trade show.
"We welcome an opportunity to hear from Mr. McKenna and to share views with him," said W. Ron Allen, Chairman of Washington Indian Gaming Association (WIGA) and Chairman of the Jamestown S'Klallam Tribe. "We appreciate the interest he has shown in tribal issues since becoming attorney general. Mr. McKenna doesn't always agree with us, but he has taken the time to learn about our issues, and he listens and respects our views."
More than 500 people from throughout the western U.S. are expected to attend the three-day trade show and conference which opens on July 14 at the Squaxin Island Tribe's Little Creek Casino Resort. Participants will have an opportunity to attend more than 18 panel discussions on current issues related to Indian gaming and to visit with more than 90 exhibitors showcasing new products and services.
McKenna is scheduled to address tribal leaders at 2 p.m. on July 16 following a WIGA board meeting that concludes the show.
WIGA is a trade association that represents 26 of the tribes in Washington State that participate in tribal government gaming. Revenue earned from gaming is used to pay for tribal government programs including health care, education, housing, public safety, environmental, natural resources, and for other purposes.
