NEW YORK, NY -- 11/01/09 --
Ajene Watson, Managing Member of the private
lending and financial business development and management firm, Ajene
Watson, LLC joined Ibero-American Science and Technology Education Center's
(ISTEC) XVIIth General Assembly
Conference.
The conference, themed, "Using Technology to Enable Collaboration, and
Collaboration to Advance Science and Technology," took place at the
University of New Mexico in Albuquerque on Tuesday, October 27th, 2009.
In his presentation, Watson, whose clients comprise of a select group of
developing but dynamic private and public companies including the eDOORWAYS Corporation, said, "The
essence of technology is firmly rooted in the soil of education. From a
rich earth of knowledge, anyone can become empowered. However, one man
can do very little all by himself. Only from exhaustive and truly
objective collaborations, can we actually continue to advance as a
society."
On November 20th, Watson will be recognized for his work in the financial
services industry at the Black Star News Annual Awards Dinner where the
theme will be, "Education As the Key to Empowerment." Identifying the
similarity between their theme and that of ISTEC's conference, Gary
Kimmons, Chairman and CEO of eDoorways, championed Watson's invite to
address the audience of 200 plus attendees of ISTEC's conference -- which
included educational, political and corporate guests from various parts of
Latin America, Spain, Portugal and the United States.
ISTEC, founded in 1990, has become one of the largest non-profit consortia
in the Americas dedicated to improving the quality of life through
education, in collaboration with multilateral organizations, throughout the
Americas and the Iberian Peninsula. The Consortium has been established to
foster scientific, engineering, and technology education and to provide a
cost-effective vehicle for the application and transfer of technology. It
also promotes joint international research and development efforts among
its many members including, Sun Microsystems, Hewlett Packard, National
Instruments, Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Charles
Darwin Research Station and the World Bank.
Watson continued, "Education is about bringing forth light to those who
live in darkness. ISTEC has managed to accomplish this by creating programs
that include 120 universities and 18 million online users, successfully
educating in various dialects throughout a multitude of socio-economic
conditions. I am proud to say that our client, eDoorways, will assist in
furthering this effort -- enhancing the lives of people throughout the
world."
In explaining where his value for education derived, he said, "my mother
dedicated her life to educating people. Her mother did the same and so did
my great grandmother. My great uncles physically built and founded some of
the very first schools in Enterprise Alabama in the late 1800's early
1900's, to ensure the proper education of the community's children, and my
grandfather, was a former professor at a southern university."
He concluded, "whether it be formal or non-formal, PHD's from the most
prestigious universities or degrees from the school of hard knocks -- life
without education, for those who understand the innate power of education.
Life without education, well, is like not living at all. I am truly
grateful to be a part of this effort."
Other speakers included: Dr. Ramiro Jordan, Founder and Executive Vice
President of ISTEC, Dr. Mauro Miskulin, ISTEC President, Martin J. Chavez,
Albuquerque, New Mexico Mayor, Ian Mitchell and Dr. Jack Crosscope
(developer of the highly praised SmartOne technology), both members of
eDoorways and Dr. David J. Schmidly, President of UNM.
