MCLEAN, Va. - (Business Wire) Managed Objects, the Business Service Management (BSM) Company, today announced impressive results for its second quarter 2008, underscored by especially strong sales in North America, which surged more than 50 percent over the same quarter in the previous year. The company continues to see remarkable demand for its widely acclaimed CMDB technology, in addition to its traditional BSM offerings including end-to-end service management and SLM products, which enable IT organizations to consolidate existing IT management tools without the need to rip and replace those investments or the value they provide.

2008 appears to be the tipping year for CMDB implementations. After watching adoption rates slowly climb for the past three years, three independent EMA research surveys in 1Q 2008 validated the claim that CMDB adoption has reached the mainstream, wrote Chris Matney, Consulting Director at ENTERPRISE MANAGEMENT ASSOCIATES, in an article titled, CMDB Requirements: The Hidden Killer. More than 65% of enterprise IT shops surveyed are now in the process of implementing a CMDB solution. Furthermore, of the two hundred respondents (many from the worlds largest companies), none are undecided about taking the plunge.

The consistency in market research, in combination with market performance, leaves little doubt that the IT management space including transformational initiatives related to BSM, ITIL and CMDBs remains vibrant, said Siki Giunta, President and CEO of Managed Objects. With a strong existing product portfolio and unrelenting dedication to innovation, Managed Objects is well positioned to continue delivering leading solutions that attract new prospects as well as enable our loyal base of customers to manage the technology that drives their business.

Key Managed Objects highlights over the last quarter included:

  • New product: After bringing its flexible, standards-based dashboard and portal framework product, myMO, to market last Fall, the company continued to develop innovative ways to apply the principles of Web 2.0 to solve real business and IT challenges. These efforts reached a major milestone when Managed Objects leaped ahead of the competition by launching myCMDB in June. myCMDB is an application that works in conjunction with an existing CMDB application and incorporates structured social-networking techniques and community principles to improve CMDB data accuracy and accessibility. This in turn enhances impact analysis and decision support.
  • New customers: In May the company announced that Brigham Young University (BYU) was strengthening its ITIL adoption with Managed Objects BSM. The addition of BYU to Managed Objects impressive and growing roster of clients demonstrates the growing demand for its BSM and CMDB products across multiple vertical markets including education, energy and government. Among others, key customer wins in Q2 included a major European general insurance company, a South American government agency and multiple expansion deals with existing customers across the financial services, government, and service provider sectors.
  • New team member: Former OPNET Technologies Inc. (NASDAQ: OPNT) executive, Abbas Haider Ali joined Managed Objects as Vice President of Product Strategy. With extensive entrepreneurial experience in the Network and Application Performance Management space, he is helping the company drive growth by providing strategic direction to the sales team and advancing Managed Objects' consultative and business-pain focused approach to sales. He is a frequent contributor to Managed Objects corporate blog the BSM Communiqué (www.wearebsm.com) and has penned guest articles and posts to several media outlets and industry blogs.
