NEW YORK - (Business Wire) Maloney & Fox (M&F), the New York City-based integrated marketing and communications firm, has always believed in doing things that are a little bit outside of people’s comfort zones. So when it came time to deliver a pitch to internationally renowned Tupperware Brands Corporation, the agency knew the typical “dog and pony show” wouldn’t cut it. Taking inspiration from Tupperware’s Chain of Confidence campaign, which helps women connect with one another to create an extraordinary source of strength, M&F’s four-woman pitch team went on the ride of their lives and won the business. Led by agency partner Margie Fox and supported by a larger group consisting of employees from M&F and parent company Waggener Edstrom Worldwide, the team began its trip to Tupperware headquarters in Orlando by facing its fears on Disney World’s infamously scary “Tower of Terror.” Armed with the new-found confidence that comes from facing a nearly 200-foot drop together, the team entered Tupperware’s meeting room wearing ‘60s-style bathing caps to demonstrate that M&F is not afraid to “dive off the high board and take the plunge into the deep end.”
“Rather than tell Tupperware that we’re creative and fun to work with, we thought it was important to show them,” said Margie Fox. “A great PR partnership is all about chemistry. Either they were going to like the sometimes unorthodox way we approach a challenge or they wouldn’t. As an agency that’s all about building long-term relationships, we believe it’s important to let people see who you are right from the start – even if that means wearing an unflattering pink piece of rubber on your head.”
And the client dove in with them right away.
“We encouraged Maloney & Fox to have fun with their pitch and they took our advice to heart,” said Elinor Steele, Vice President of Global Public Relations for Tupperware Brands. “We knew right away that they would provide the kind of creative thinking we need to capture the attention of the media, our sales forces and the larger business community, while also providing a strong strategic foundation. And we knew they’d make our business trips to New York a heckuva lot of fun.”
As agency of record for Tupperware Brands, Maloney & Fox is responsible for consumer and business media relations, events and creative campaigns and social media programs for Tupperware Brands’ products and its Chain of Confidence campaign.
“M&F is an agency that has always believed in giving back and creating a family atmosphere, so it’s a thrill to work with a brand that not only makes a great product, but also has a strong commitment to helping people,” said Fox. “We’re beyond excited to tell the world about Tupperware’s commitment to empowering women and changing their lives. Not to mention, scoring some stylish storage containers for our office and homes.”
