Maine Literary Festival Brings Multi-Cultural Voices to Camden November 7th

CAMDEN, ME -- 10/29/09 --
Book authors, poets and academics with roots in
India, Spain, Africa, Thailand, Iran, the Netherlands and the United States
-- as well as Native American and African American culture -- will bring
their insights and experiences to the Camden Opera House on Saturday,
November 7th, as part of the Maine Literary Festival.
Special guests include John Muthyala, Judy Hakola and Reza Jalali from the
University of Maine; Carol Bachofner and Allan Sockabasin; children's
author and puppeteer Ashley Bryan; Pat Nyhan, Jan Pieter van Voorst van
Beest, Eugene Gloria, Francisco Aragon, Shilpa Argarwal, Jaed Coffin and
Rishi Reddi. The program will start at 6:30 p.m. and end with a reception
and book signing.
The Maine Literary Festival is a scholarship project of the Midcoast Branch
of the American Association of University Women. An Evening Exploring
Literature of New Voices in America is the first in a year-long series of
activities exploring cross-cultural themes and culminating in the 2010
Maine Literary Festival.
