MILPITAS, CA -- 01/07/10 --
Magnum Semiconductor, the leader in
professional-grade compression processors, announced today a comprehensive
compression solution, supporting a rich set of standards and geographies,
providing global coverage in the consumer and broadcast space.
Magnum consumer products cover a variety of compression needs for the home,
including decoding, encoding, and transcoding. The company provides best of
breed video re-distribution in the home, for Mobile, PC and multiple TVs,
for low res, SD, HD, and top of the line 3D.
With its latest release of the DXT client family, the company is adding
support for ARIB specification which is mandatory in Japan. With this
release, Magnum is showing its commitment to the evolving Japan TV, STB and
Blue Ray co-processor markets. As Magnum continuously adds system features
into its products, it provides faster time to market and easier
integration.
Today, Magnum is also announcing support and commitment for the Brazil
market, with support for the mobile standard required by ISDB-Tb. As Brazil
transitions to digital and H.264, Magnum is taking a leading role with
select tier 1 customers by providing top of the line terrestrial, cable,
satellite and IPTV compression.
"Our customers are going global, and we are there to support them all the
way. Already supporting and integrated in DVB and PSIP/ ATSC products in
Europe and North America, we are now very active in Japan and Brazil. The
combination of DVB, PSIP/ ATSC, ISDB-Tb and ARIB covers most of the globe,
and we continue to expand to new territories," said Gal Garniek, VP
Marketing and Sales at Magnum Semiconductor.
Magnum leverages its rate adaptation, decoding, and encoding broadcast
technology knowhow in the DXT chip product family to enable high-quality
transcoding using a full decode and full encode to maximize the quality of
the results, all in real-time or faster. In addition, Magnum's DXT provides
an optimal user quality of experience (QOE) with network-based rate
adaptation, seamless frame and resolution changes, allowing for superior
compression efficiency, superior video quality at lowest bit rates and best
user experience, unlike other processors which are based on re-quantization
or which do not support seamless network adaptation.
