WASHINGTON, May 21 MACP-Cuba-Solidarity
WASHINGTON, May 21 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- May 21, 2008 is Cuba Solidarity Day. The day is designed to expose the human rights abuses committed by the Cuban regime, which denies its people basic legal and human rights. Political prisoners continue to languish in harsh prison conditions because of their belief in freedom and liberty.
"We are proud to publicly demonstrate our continued solidarity with the people of Cuba and their right to liberty", said Jordan Paul, Director of Government Affairs for the Moroccan American Center for Policy (MACP). "The Castro regime remains a nightmare of human rights abuses, repression, and political incarcerations. All free people must demand the immediate and unconditional release of Cuban political prisoners and support those working to bring real freedom to Cuba. The courageous efforts of political prisoners and other active dissidents are paving the way for freedom in Cuba. While today we publicly express our solidarity with those who fight against the current regime of repression, it is my hope that on May 21, 2009 we will be celebrating the return of liberty for the Cuban people."
