LOS ANGELES - (Business Wire) The California Charter Schools Association today announced that Kathi Littmann, former Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) executive director of iDivision Design Schools and respected veteran in the education arena, has joined its staff as Senior Vice President of Intergovernmental Affairs. In her new role, Kathi
’s responsibilities will focus on advancing the charter movement among key education policy stakeholders and ensuring the fair representation of charter schools at the state and national level.
The announcement comes at a time when momentum continues to build around charter schools, with 687 charter schools currently serving close to a quarter million students in California. Close to 70 new charter schools are expected to open their doors for the first time this fall.

Littmann comes from a diverse background in education, most recently serving as executive director of iDivision Design Schools with LAUSD where she developed and implemented a new innovation district with 18 schools serving 29,000 students.
“Having worked for the nation’s largest authorizer, I’ve learned that charter schools are a true partner within the public school system,” said Kathi Littmann. “Charter schools are the most promising path for public school reform. Littmann earned an undergraduate degree from Southwestern Oklahoma State University, a masters of science in general education and a doctorate in educational leadership for social justice from Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles. She is also a fellow at the Broad Urban Superintendents Academy.
