CORTE MADERA, Calif., Nov. 25 /PRNewswire/ -- Jill Hollander, MBA, CFP, CRPC, Founder of the Financial Connections Group, Inc., attended the annual conference of the Financial Planning Association in Anaheim, CA, Oct. 10-13, and was invited to participate in a new and innovative session called "Twitter Live! With Industry Thought Leaders." The unique format encouraged succinct comments. Hollander was asked to share with her colleagues the number one thing they, as professional financial planners, should be thinking about as 2010 approaches.
Hollander spoke about the importance of adaptability and communication, especially in light of the recent market turmoil. "One of the ways my firm adapted to the events of last year was to introduce periodic conference calls, which required us to expand our technology capability," said Hollander. "We also fine-tuned our hourly financial planning services, enabling us to help more people, more economically, during this difficult period."
Brian Pon, CFP, a principal in the firm and an Enrolled Agent, was invited to address his peers at a recent meeting of the East Bay Association of Enrolled Agents. Pon's topic was Working With Your Clients' Financial Advisors and Institutions: Tips for the Tax Professional and Tips for the Client. Pon spoke about how improved communication and collaboration among tax and financial advisors can improve the client's overall tax situation and help with tax strategies. "Financial professionals who work with clients want to provide excellent service and value," said Pon. "The reality is that we can all be more effective if we collaborate with our clients' other trusted advisors."
In addition to his financial planning practice, Pon teaches financial planning seminars at the University of California - Berkeley. He also teaches tax planning and mentors students in the graduate financial planning program at Golden Gate University. As a volunteer for Consumer Credit Counseling Service of the East Bay, he conducts seminars on budgeting, cash and debt management and introductory investing.
