With the company’s initial service offering, hospitals and academic medical centers can deploy the enterprise version of the software, lifeIMAGE Local Appliance (lila)(TM), to provide any physician or their administrative staff with the ability to manage the increasing volume of incoming patient CDs. Using lila, clinicians can conveniently review and share any imaging study with fellow clinicians. When necessary, lila’s workflow and quality assurance process enables sharing of outside imaging studies with the facility’s RIS/PACS.
The company’s early adopters include Continuum Health Partners (CHP), a nonprofit hospital system in New York, NY, that comprises five distinguished hospitals, Beth Israel Medical Center, Roosevelt Hospital, St. Luke’s Hospital, Long Island College Hospital, and the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary. Another early adopter is Bronx, NY-based Montefiore Medical Center, the University Hospital and Academic Medical Center for the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Montefiore represents one of the busiest emergency departments in the country, and it receives more than one-million annual visits to its faculty practices.
Dr. Keith Dreyer, Vice Chairman of Radiology, Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School, and Corporate Director of Medical Imaging at Partners Healthcare, plans to deliver a talk entitled Cross-Provider Medical Image Sharing at RSNA. This Software as a Service (SaaS) model is an affordable alternative to today’s expensive teleradiology infrastructure for low- to medium-sized facilities.
