(PRWEB) November 10, 2009 -- It’s common knowledge that amateur sports people often live hand to mouth. Expensive equipment, long hours practising and lots of travel make for tight budgets and lean times. But these days many people are facing tight budgets and money worries. Drawing on her personal experience, five times British field archery champion Jackie Wilkinson has written a survival guide for those finding it tough in the financial downturn.
‘Survival Guide for the Skint’ is a money management book with a difference. Jargon free it describes how to survive the financial perils of life based on real experience. Jackie writes at a cracking pace to clearly and simply cover: where your money goes; how to defend yourself to hang onto more of it; shopping; children; credit/debt; saving; slimming; gambling; going green and more. This book will appeal to anyone who's ever felt short of money, and wants to stop being skint.
When asked why she wrote the book Jackie says, “I have noticed that people plead poverty regardless of how much they earn. It's the reason I decided to write this book. No-one seems to be satisfied. As students, we were all poor; we were supposed to be. But I coped OK, avoiding the large debts that fri suffered. After graduating, I got a job with low pay. I managed while others on similar wages struggled. When I moved to a better job, things were easier. Later on I came across people earning large salaries who should have felt rich, but amazingly they still moaned about being skint”.
The book covers becoming aware of your outgoings and how to track them, priorities, shopping, handling cash, investments and other key elements. One fascinating chapter is the one on slimming where Jackie shares how using metabolic typing transformed her diet – reducing her weight and boosting her health without splashing out on any fancy weight-loss products.
In typically frank language Jackie says, “I am not a financial expert. I won't baffle you with ‘accountant-speak’. I'm a survivor and I'll share with you some simple ideas that have worked for me and for others”.
This is Jackie’s second book following the international best selling ‘Succeed In Sport’ which shares the secrets of how using her sporting performance monitoring chart she transformed herself from a good county and regional archer to five times British champion and European medallist. Jackie has a refreshingly simple to follow writing style keeping everything easy to read and absorb. Jackie lives in Cumbria and still shoots at an international standard.
The book is released on 9nd November and is available from all good book stores.
