Harley Enthusiasts Travel to Milwaukee on Lake Michigan for 105th Celebration MILWAUKEE, Aug. 29
MILWAUKEE, Aug. 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Most of the more than 150,000 Harley-Davidson riders in Milwaukee for the Harley-Davidson 105th Anniversary Celebration are arriving via the open road. But, over five days, more than 1,500 riders are traveling over water on the Lake Express High Speed Ferry between Milwaukee and Muskegon, Michigan. Many riders have opted to take the Lake Express to the celebration to avoid the hassle of having to drive through Chicago traffic.
"I rode through Chicago for the 100th and it was a rough experience for me," said Joe Garber from South Lyon, Michigan. "I just thought I'd take the easy way this time."
The ship is packed, as the vehicle deck, which normally holds 46 cars and 12 motorcycles, has been converted to hold 120 bikes. Riders have come from Montreal, New York City, Toronto and Ohio just to name a few.
"We are very excited to have so many Harley-Davidson's riding the ship over the past few days," said Lake Express President Ken Szallai. "The Lake Express is a great alternative to driving through Chicago for bikers, as they have the opportunity to sit back, relax and talk with other Harley riders about their experiences as they bring their bikes home to Milwaukee for the celebration."
Harley-Davidson's 105th Anniversary Celebration is being held August 27-31 in Milwaukee, the birthplace of Harley. For more information about the festivities visit http://www.harley-davidson.com/105th.
