MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA -- 07/28/08 -- Exaprotect, a leader in security management innovation, today announced a public webinar on Wednesday, July 30, to share the best practices for managing change in multi-vendor network and security device environments. Oftentimes, due to mergers and acquisitions, unilateral technology purchasing decisions and use of defense in-depth firewall strategies, today's large enterprise IT environments are comprised of hundreds of firewalls and other hardware devices from several different vendors. With disparate interfaces and processes, managing security configurations and reconfigurations consistently across these environments has become a daunting challenge. As a result, security and network teams in most organizations have limited visibility, making responding to a security threat in real-time a panic-driven haphazard, rather than systematic, rules-based process.

Exaprotect's Domenick Lionetti, vice president NCCM strategy and planning, will share how to successfully design and manage a network security change management process that gives security and network teams greater control of hardware, including firewalls, routers, switches and intrusion prevention systems (IPS), to implement changes quickly in response to threats.

The audience will learn how to:

-- Design and translate high-level business level policies into device
   configurations
-- Increase visibility of deployed network security configurations
-- Provide a central repository to track and audit security rules (e.g.
by source, destination, change request number)
-- Generate rules automatically and consistently regardless of the network
   device
-- Simplify rule creation
-- Implement a migration strategy from older legacy devices to newer,
   better-performing and less costly devices
-- Prepare networks for simple updates to the latest security standards
   and compliance requirements
