FOTA, a relatively new technology for North American operators, allows the update of firmware on devices such as mobile phones deployed in the field. In the past, firmware updates needed to be done by re-flashing the device at a retail store or service center. Because FOTA allows operators to upgrade features or patch firmware without needing to physically touch or recall the device, this technology is increasingly popular with operators trying to deliver the best possible subscriber experience. Indeed, some operators have mandated that all new phones ship with FOTA capability.
Casio’s selection of the InnoPath iMDM Client for the G’zOne is evidence of the company’s continued technical leadership and operational expertise, including its unique Port-to-Production program.
