Inmet Mining Announces the Appointment of Jochen Tilk as Chief Executive Officer

TORONTO, Nov. 2 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ - The Board of Directors of Inmet Mining Corporation (Inmet) (TSX:IMN) announced today that they have appointed Jochen Tilk, Inmet's President and Chief Operating Officer, to the position of President and Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Tilk has been employed with Inmet for more than 21 years and has filled a number of senior executive roles. The Board of Directors of Inmet has accepted the retirement of Richard Ross, the current Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Company, as Chief Executive Officer today. Mr. Ross will remain as Chairman until December 31, 2009 to facilitate the executive transition. Both the appointment of Mr. Tilk and the retirement of Mr. Ross are in accordance with Inmet's plan of executive succession which has been in development over the last several years.
Mr. Ross has been with Inmet for more than 20 years and has served as its Chief Executive Officer for the last 10 years and prior to that as its Chief Financial Officer. Mr. Ross has played a key role in the growth of the Company over these years to its present position as the owner and operator of mines in Canada, Turkey, Finland and Spain, as well as a significant ownership and involvement with a major mine in Papua New Guinea. The Company is presently developing a major project in Panama.
Mr. Ross will be devoting his time and energy to his role as Chair of the Board of St. Joseph's Health Centre in Toronto and a number of other non-profit and charitable organizations.
