NEW YORK - (Business Wire) Ingrid Sischy and Sandy Brant have been appointed as International Editors of the European editions of Vanity Fair magazine, including Italian Vanity Fair and German Vanity Fair, both weeklies, and a Spanish Vanity Fair to be launched next September, it was announced today by Jonathan Newhouse, Chairman of Condé Nast International.

"Ingrid and Sandy are deeply connected to the worlds of fashion, Hollywood and art and bring enormous journalistic experience and know-how to this new position, which has been created especially for them. They command an extraordinary level of respect in the industry," said Newhouse, adding that they would extend their responsibilities to future editions of Vanity Fair when they are launched.

Sischy said, "This is a most exciting opportunity for Sandra and me to continue our engagement in worlds we so love, with the premiere company in publishing. The international aspect of this role is especially thrilling in the context of this moment in the 21st century, when fashion, art, film, and pop culture itself has become so global."

Over the past 23 years Brant served as CEO, President and Publisher of Brant Publications which publishes Interview, Art in America and The Magazine Antiques. She completes her tenure this week. Sischy until a few weeks ago had been editor of Interview since 1990 and previously wrote for The New Yorker. In her new position, she will continue writing for Vanity Fair in the US, where she is a contributing editor. Brant and Sischy are credited with successfully publishing Interview and maintaining it as an important, influential title devoted to celebrity, fashion and culture following the death of its founder, Andy Warhol, in 1987. Brant was the co-owner and earlier this year, sold her half of the enterprise to her former husband Peter Brant. The pair will officially join Vanity Fair on May 2.

The European editions of Vanity Fair are editorially independent of the American magazine, each having its own content. Italian Vanity Fair, edited by Luca Dini, has taken Italy by storm since its launch in 2003., with a circulation of more than 250,000 and more than 6,300 advertising pages, the highest volume of any consumer magazine in Europe or the US. German Vanity Fair, edited by Nikolaus Albrecht, was started a year ago and sells close to 200,000. The editor of Spanish Vanity Fair is Lourdes Garzon. Sischy and Brant will work closely with these editors.
