TORONTO and SAN FRANCISCO, CA -- 09/16/08 --
Infobright, a technology leader in
analytic data warehousing, and
Jaspersoft, the market leader in open
source business intelligence (BI), today announced plans to deliver a joint
end-to-end open source BI and data warehouse solution, available as a
JasperForge project. JasperForge.org is the largest open source community
portal with hundreds of projects for the Jaspersoft Business Intelligence
Suite. The new joint project bundle will be based on Jaspersoft and several
Sun open source products, as well as the new open source data warehouse
software, Infobright Community Edition (ICE) (
link to release). This
enterprise-class, self-managing solution is a proven alternative to today's
high-cost, high-maintenance data warehouse products.
The announcement follows on the launch of www.infobright.org, the new
community home and development portal for open source enthusiasts with
corporate data warehouse needs. As part of Infobright's commitment to fast,
responsive development and innovation, Infobright.org will include links to
product downloads and developer/user communities for a variety of open
source database and business intelligence (BI) projects, including the new
joint solution on JasperForge.
"With downloads of Jaspersoft's products topping the six-million mark,
there clearly is a huge community committed to open source BI and a
tremendous need for an open source data warehouse," said Brian Gentile,
president and CEO, Jaspersoft. "Sun and its communities already embrace
Jaspersoft BI in a variety of ways, and now Jaspersoft is excited to bring
open source BI to Infobright's open source data warehouse for MySQL
database. With MySQL, Infobright, and Jaspersoft, small and medium
businesses can now rapidly and affordably transform massive amounts of
business data into insightful, timely information."
Jaspersoft has a long history of support for Sun's leading open source
software products. JasperReports won JavaOne's Duke's Award and supports
the OpenOffice OpenDocument format; MySQL delivers embedded reporting to
its customers through an OEM agreement for Jasper for MySQL; iReport,
Jaspersoft's graphical development tool, is the number one NetBeans
download plug-in; and Jaspersoft supports GlassFish and native 64-bit BI on
OpenSolaris and x64 servers -- all critical for open source, scalable BI.
"An open source data warehouse is the final piece of the open source BI
ecosystem," said Miriam Tuerk, president and CEO of Infobright.
"Jaspersoft's success has validated the strong market demand for
enterprise-class, open source BI tools, and Infobright is pleased to be
partnering with Jaspersoft to deliver an end-to-end solution. Linking both
the products and the communities will make it easy for users to quickly
implement a scalable BI platform and to get the information and knowledge
they need to be successful."
