Come see the unveiling of the first Hugo Movie Painting, Napoleon and Josephine, at a special exhibit Oct 17 - Nov 15, 2009. The painter, the paintings and documentary film trailer will be featured at this art show at the Hangar Galleries at the Santa Monica Art Studios. Hugo Anderson has replicated a famous painting from the Louvre, and turned it into a movie set with Hollywood stars.

(PRWEB) September 24, 2009 -- Hugo Anderson was first inspired to become an artist by the Coronation of Napoleon and Josephine painting by Jacques-Louis David at the Louvre in Paris at age 15. After years of painting, Hugo now unveils his own version, Napoleon and Josephine at his art exhibit this Oct 17 - Nov 15, 2009 in Santa Monica, California.

1. Painter - Hugo Anderson

After growing up in Roswell, New Mexico, Hugo Anderson's art career has taken him to New York, Denver and Los Angeles. The first two paintings that Hugo ever remembers are Blue Boy and Pinkie, which ironically are close-by in Pasadena, California at the Huntington Library. Hugo adds, "What I like about California is people have dreams, and they are working on it….Everything in the painting has very positive energy." For his newest work, Hugo shared, "I have finally got the skills and the right size studio."

2. Paintings - Napoleon and Josephine & Portraits

When you ask Hugo about his new Napoleon and Josephine painting, he explains, "It's a painting that's been developing in my mind since 1961 when I saw the David painting in Paris." His biggest painting ever, 8ft tall x 16 ft wide, includes a cast of Hollywood characters who you will recognize. He's never done anything so complex either with 26 people, 2 statues and a Zebra.

When Hugo turned his version into a 1950s Napoleon and Josephine movie set, he added the lights, Producer, Director, Cinematographer, and Photographer to the sidelines. Hugo even had movie stars sit for the painting in his Santa Monica, California studio. He explained, "I wanted to learn about movies, and in the process of painting, everyone educated me on the making of movies."

Movie Painting Cast: Napoleon - Brian Benben (Dream On) Josephine - Madeline Stowe (The Last of the Mohicans) Director - Paul Haggis (Crash) Producer - Alexander Singer (Star Trek Voyager) Queen Mother - Lynda Resnick (LA Philanthropist) Cardinal Caprara - Robert Wolff (Historian)

In addition to the main movie painting, there will be a dozen individual portraits shown that include some of the other actors in Napoleon and Josephine. These portraits were part of Hugo's art opening last fall, and were the beginning of the Hugo Movie Painting concept.

3. Documentary Film

Throughout the 21-month painting process, Documentary Director/ Cinematographer, Darryl Walthall, has been filming Hugo's journey. The Hugo Movie Painting trailer will be shown at this art opening in October. Hugo and Darryl even revisited the Louvre to film Hugo with the original David painting for this documentary short. Once completed, this short will be entered into film festivals,

There will also be photo books of the Hugo Movie Painting film journey at this exhibit opening. Hugo added, "It's the most exciting painting I have done in my career, and now other people get to decide."
