MIAMI - (Business Wire) Arthur J. England Jr., a former Chief Justice of the Florida Supreme Court, will receive the Legal Legends award from the 11th Judicial Circuit Historical Society Board on November 7, at the historic Olympia Theatre in downtown Miami. He is one of 12 recipients to be honored for their outstanding contributions to the legal system and the administration of justice within the 11th Judicial Circuit over a period of at least 25 years.

Mr. England is co-chair of the National Appellate Practice Group and a shareholder in the Miami office of the international law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP. He was recently certified as Civil Circuit Mediator from the Florida Supreme Court and received the 2008 Honorable Theodore Ted Klein Special Recognition Award from the Greater Miami Jewish Federation.

Mr. England served as Justice and Chief Justice of the Florida Supreme Court from 1975 to 1981. From 1979-1980, he served as Deputy Chairman of Conference of Chief Justices. He is the author of Florida's Administrative Procedure Act, its Corporate Income Tax Code, and its Deceptive and Unfair Trade Practices Act (Floridas little FTC Act). He focuses his practice on appellate work and trial counseling, constitutional matters, commercial litigation, administrative law, and insurance defense. He received a B.S. from the Wharton School of Finance and Commerce of the University of Pennsylvania, an LL.B. from the University of Pennsylvania Law School, and a LL.M. from the University of Miami School of Law.

Greenberg Traurig's Appellate Practice Group has been at the center of some of the most important appellate cases in recent times, including serving as appellate counsel to Lorillard Tobacco in the landmark appeal which reversed a $145 billion award, and writing the amicus brief cited extensively in the Supreme Court's decision in the University of Michigan affirmative action cases.
