AUSTIN, TX -- 10/07/09 --
University of Mississippi sophomore Robin Walker
knows the high cost of education means costly future debt and potential
time away from school to work during the semester. That is why Robin is
greatly appreciative of her recent APRO
Scholarship awarded to her by the national trade association for the rent
to own industry. Walker plans to use the $2000 scholarship to help pay for
her Journalism degree and to keep the spare time she serves as her
sorority's philanthropy chair working with Habitat for Humanity and
Children's Miracle Network, to name just a few.
"It's such a blessing and I just want to thank all of those in the rent to
own industry. It will help me tremendously and I hope the rent to own
industry can help hundreds of other students as rent to own has helped me,"
states Walker.
The Association of Progressive Rental Organizations spent the past seven
years building a permanent trust fund to award educational scholarships to
deserving students who show a commitment to their community and academic
excellence. Robin Walker is the daughter of "Bo" Walker who works for RTO
Rentals in Paris, TN that rents to own storage buildings throughout the
Southeast and Midwestern states.
In a recent speech, President Barack Obama addressed "the rising cost of
tuition and fees that make college inaccessible for millions of young
Americans, while others graduate with tens of thousands of dollars in
debt." The rent to own industry is one of the many industries helping to
address the educational funding crises through rent to own
programs, such as providing scholarships.
"The rent to own industry's commitment to education and scholarship funds
is a testament to the industry's growth and establishment as a vital
industry and contributor to the economy," proclaims APRO President "Tiger"
John Cleek from Columbia, Missouri who is a strong supporter of the
University of Missouri. "The rent to own industry is here to help our
future with the most powerful contribution to our children through
education scholarships."
The Association of Progressive Rental Organizations (APRO) has spent more
than 25 years helping improve the rent to own industry to become one of the
most vibrant consumer industries in America. For more information on what is rent to
