      that it has signed a definitive agreement to acquire the 492-bed Sparks 
      Health System located in Fort Smith, Arkansas. The transaction is 
      expected to be completed by November 30, 2009.

NAPLES, Fla. - (Business Wire) Health Management Associates, Inc. (NYSE: HMA) announced today that it has signed a definitive agreement to acquire the 492-bed Sparks Health System located in Fort Smith, Arkansas. The transaction is expected to be completed by November 30, 2009.
