NEW YORK, June 12 /PRNewswire/ -- The Guardian Life Insurance Company of America ("Guardian") today announced the promotion of three officers to new roles and the elevation of a fourth to its Board of Directors.
K. Rone Baldwin, an Executive Vice President in charge of Guardian's Group Insurance business, has been named Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. Mr. Baldwin's expanded accountabilities will include responsibility for Guardian's Individual Life, Retirement Products & Services and Group Insurance businesses, as well as its Berkshire Life Insurance Company of America subsidiary. He will report to Guardian's President and Chief Executive Officer, Dennis J. Manning.
Mr. Baldwin joined Guardian in 2006 after more than 24 years in the insurance and financial services sectors. He was formerly with a major insurer where he was President and Chief Executive Officer of the Employee Benefits Group.
To replace Mr. Baldwin as Group Insurance business leader, Guardian promoted to Senior Vice President, Jim Pogue, currently a vice president managing its group dental insurance business. The company also promoted Chris Swanker, a second vice president in charge of group insurance market development. He was made a Vice President and will lead the company's group dental insurance business.
Concurrent with the above promotions, Guardian also named to its Board of Directors Robert E. Broatch, the company's Chief Financial Officer & Executive Vice President for Finance, Risk and Operational Excellence. Mr. Broatch continues to report to President and CEO, Dennis J. Manning. All appointments become effective July 1.
"These promotions are a testament to Guardian's deep reservoir of leaders," said Mr. Manning. "These officers are all talented managers with demonstrated records of success with Guardian. I look forward to their partnership and leadership in positioning the company for continued growth."
