(EMAILWIRE.COM, November 04, 2009 ) Dallas, TX - Today, most of the Gold stocks were close high as Gold futures hit a new closing high above $1,084 an ounce after India's central bank said it would purchase 200 metric tons of bullion and the dollar, while higher, trimmed its gains.
Gold for December delivery, the most active contract, closed up $30.90 an ounce, or 2.9%, to $1,084.90 an ounce, a closing high for the contract.
Among the large Companies, Barrick Gold Corporation (USA) (NYSE:ABX) climbed 7.29% to $39.17 on an unusual volume of over 26.16 million shares. Goldcorp Inc. (USA) (NYSE:GG) rose 7.97% to $40.12, while Yamana Gold Inc. (USA) (NYSE:AUY) also moved up 8.05% to $11.68.
Also various mid and small companies were also in focus - Golden Star Resources Ltd. (USA) (AMEX:GSS) soared the most, 12.23% to $3.67. Jaguar Mining Inc. (NYSE:JAG) rose 7.46% to $9.07.
U.S. Gold Corporation (AMEX:UXG) climbed 11.24% to $2.97.
