New Building Design Conserves Energy, Wins Ecologic Award CHANDLER, Ariz., July 17
CHANDLER, Ariz., July 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Gold Canyon, the Arizona-based
maker of scented candles, body and home products, has announced that its
100,000 sq. foot expansion is now ready for occupation. This expansion is
being added to its already existing 120,000 sq. foot manufacturing and
distribution facilities at Arizona Avenue and Riggs Road in Chandler. The
ribbon cutting ceremony for the expansion will be held on
July 17, 2008 from 9:00 to 9:30 am in conjunction with the company's quarterly
co-worker event.
The expansion will be used to house a new state of the art distribution
center and operations offices. Gold Canyon will currently use existing
employees to fill the jobs and hire appropriately as the growth demands.
The new expansion will also include 5,000 square feet of new office space
with 34 evaporative coolers as well as 18 heating units. According to Curt
Waisath, Co-Founder, the new expansion will "be the equivalent of 2.56
football fields end to end."
In an effort to go green, Gold Canyon chose T5HO high efficiency lighting
for its recent facility expansion. Installed by Border States Electric, this
system reduces operating costs and conserves energy. The new lighting also
passes the federal test for non-hazardous waste. In addition Gold Canyon
installed numerous roof skylights to harness the Arizona sunlight with the
purpose of supplementing lighting energy usage.
Gold Canyon's new building qualifies for Sylvania's Ecologic Award.
Additionally, the building's energy efficient lighting system qualifies for
the Federal Epact Tax incentive.
