SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. - (Business Wire) Go Daddy has recorded a huge surge in
SSL Certificates – raking in 65.8 percent of the market share for new certificates, according to the October Netcraft Ltd. report.
As more and more people focus on the Web, SSL Certificates are becoming even more popular, especially at Go Daddy where they are available for as much as 75 percent less than the competition. An SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) Certificate enables encryption of online transactions and communications. They are essential for ecommerce Web sites.
“Why wouldn’t people come to Go Daddy,” asked Go Daddy CEO and Founder Bob Parsons. “We offer customers the very same SSL Cert as our higher priced competitors do, but at a fraction of the cost. Nowadays people are looking for ways to save money. This is an easy way to do it.”
In addition to providing the same security level other SSL providers offer, all Go Daddy certificates include an unlimited server license, potentially saving companies thousands of dollars.
“Our competitors require their customers to purchase a certificate for every server they have,” Parsons pointed out. “Go Daddy allows customers to use their certificate on as many servers as they choose. It doesn’t matter if you have 10, 50 or 1,000 servers.”
The customer-centric strategy appears to be successful for everyone. Netcraft reports Go Daddy added close to 20,000 certificates during the last three months. While both the SSL industry and Go Daddy gained market share overall, two other major Certificate Authorities actually lost share. Netcraft, a leading industry analyst, also ranks Go Daddy as the second largest SSL provider overall.
An SSL Certificate enables encryption of online transactions and communications. GoDaddy.com SSL Certificates are offered in three assurance validation levels: Standard, Deluxe and Premium SSL. All GoDaddy.com certificates offer up to 256-bit encryption.
In addition to owning the majority of the net new SSL market, Go Daddy is the world leader for Web sites hosted with SSL Certificates, according to Netcraft. Not bad when you consider Go Daddy started providing Secure Certificates in May 2004.
Go Daddy has recently introduced Code Signing Certificates. These enable anyone distributing software via the Internet to show their customers the software can be trusted. The certificate confirms publisher details and protects customers from inadvertently installing unauthorized software.
