OSHAWA, ONTARIO -- 12/01/09 -- For November 2009, General Motors of Canada dealers delivered 15,063 units, down 29.9% from a year ago. Despite its lowest inventory levels in years and the wind-down of three brands, GM continues to be Canada's automotive sales leader calendar-year-to-date.

"Beneath the decline in sales volume, there is an underlying strength building as customers continue to react very positively to our newest vehicles from our four core brands: Chevrolet, Buick, GMC and Cadillac," said Marc Comeau, GM of Canada's vice-president of sales, service and marketing. "Retail sales performance for these core brands was aligned with overall industry performance for the month," added Comeau. "Sales were led by our Consumers Digest Best Buy vehicles including the fuel efficient Chevrolet Equinox and GMC Terrain, which were up a combined 17.2 per cent for November."

GM Canada is focused on replenishing inventory levels to meet high customer demand for its newest vehicles and this includes scheduled overtime at the Oshawa Car Plant and the addition of a third shift and a major body shop expansion at the CAMI facility in Ingersoll, Ontario.

Comeau added: "As we build inventory for our leading range of high quality, fuel-efficient new vehicles, we are also building customer confidence and demand through our ongoing 60-day Satisfaction Guarantee and the extension of our very popular Cash for Clunkers Program that combines with the Government of Canada's 'Retire Your Ride' initiative to protect the environment. Together with our holiday season bonus offers, now is the time to visit a GM showroom and see for yourself."
