FORT WORTH, Texas - (Business Wire) November is National Adoption Month, and the Gladney Center for Adoption has much to celebrate. Throughout its rich history Gladney has been a pioneer and a leading voice for improving the lives of children, adoptive families and women planning adoption. Gladney has placed more than 28,000 children in loving families and served more than 37,000 young women faced with an unplanned pregnancy. This year marked Gladney’s 122nd anniversary. Gladney celebrates this milestone by honoring all families touched by the miracle of adoption. Gladney recognizes that adoption is a lifelong journey, and offers customized programs and services to ensure that adoptive families and women planning adoption are cared for and supported through every step of that journey. In addition to placing children born in the United States, Gladney’s international program is committed to finding permanent homes for children in other countries. Sadly, there are over 143 million orphans world-wide. It is Gladney’s hope, and our mission, to help these children find permanent and loving homes. However, for the children left behind, Gladney is committed to humanitarian aid programs that create a brighter future for these children through quality of life programs, transitional programs for older orphans and emergency relief.
"Looking back, it's remarkable that after 122 years of service, Gladney continues to evolve and grow," says President Frank Garrott. "Over the years, Gladney has refined our services to meet society's changes and our clients' needs. Gladney is proud to be a leader in the field of adoption here at home and around the world."
Gladney continues to grow and is assisted today by several regional offices across the nation, and by aid workers and adoption staff located in countries around the world. In addition, sixteen Gladney Family Associations across the country provide parent-to-parent support for adoptive families.
National Adoption Month celebrates families touched by adoption, honors birth mothers for their courageous choice, and remembers children at home and around the world who are still in need of permanent, loving homes. This month we wear white ribbons to raise awareness of adoption and remind people of the lifelong benefits that adoption offers to young women experiencing unplanned pregnancies, children in need of permanent homes, and families built through the miracle of adoption. Please join us in raising awareness about the miracle of adoption through the celebration of National Adoption Month.
