SAN FRANCISCO, CA -- 11/24/09 --
Girls in Tech, the premier social network
enterprise focused on the empowerment of women in technology, has announced
the organization's first Catalyst Conference focused on career development
of women working in high-tech. The conference will be held on January 26,
2010 at the Commonwealth Club in San Francisco, and will bring more than
350 passionate, creative women together for a series of inspiring keynotes
from female leaders in the industry, as well as workshops led by experts in
innovation and collaboration.
As a premier female-only event, the Catalyst Conference will provide women
with concrete technology and business tools for their careers, from
advancement in their current position to launching a new venture. Attendees
will benefit from sage advice and insight from innovators within the
technology field. Speakers at the conference include Elisa Camahort, COO of
Blogher; Donna Novitsky, CEO, BigTent; Sandy Jen, CTO, Meebo; Leila
Chiryath Janah, CEO and Founder, Samasource. More information can be found
on Girls in Tech's Catalyst Conference website.
"We have developed this conference to provide women in technology with real
skills and important tools that they can directly apply to their careers,"
said Adriana Gascoigne, founder and CEO of Girls in Tech. "As an
organization, Girls in Tech's main goal is to empower women in the
industry, and we believe that the speakers and workshops we have lined up for
the Catalyst Conference will propel women to take the next step in their
career."
Attendees will include professionals from a wide-variety of high technology
sectors, from women at the top of their industries and those leading their
first ventures to discuss strategy and success. Topics of discussion
include understanding industry trends, including what's working and what to
avoid and learning how to create change for developing nations by using Web
tools and platforms available. In addition to expert advice and informative
tools, the conference will help to fuel new relationships and foster ideas
that could have a considerable impact on the technology industry at large.
To recognize women who are innovating across technology, Girls in Tech has
partnered with Vator.tv, a leading platform for entrepreneurs and
innovators to broadcast themselves, to find five women-led startups to
present onstage. The five women will be chosen by their peers and validated
by judges through the online "Catalyst Competition."
