Charity Continues to Fulfill Mission of Putting Adoption in Reach
TECHNY, Ill., Nov. 21 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- In celebration of National Adoption Month, Gift of Adoption Fund recently paused to recognize the 500th grant awarded by the organization. The 500th grant was awarded to Leah and Josh Grove of Shorewood, Minnesota, to make it possible for them to complete their adoption of Avery Grace.
Like the millions of other children worldwide awaiting adoption, Avery's story captures the heart. Avery Grace was born in Minnesota with a severe medical condition. Now six months old and in a loving and nurturing home, Avery's doctors say she is developing normally.
With the average cost of adoption exceeding $25,000, many qualified parents like Leah and Josh who are yearning to adopt do not even start the process because the financial hurdle is too great. Gift of Adoption grants remove that roadblock and make adoptions possible.
"We are grateful to reach the milestone of our 500th grant," said Pam Devereux, CEO. "It's a testimony to the vast need and a testimony to the generosity of those who believe in adoption as a charitable cause ... people who give to Gift of Adoption like they give to other charitable causes. When you give a child a family you're assuring all basic needs will be met and you're giving a joy and dignity that is profound and transformative."
Given the current economic climate, Gift of Adoption expects that more adoptions may be put in jeopardy because of the financial burden this commitment places on families. Sadly, the number of children waiting to be adopted is expected to increase as well.
"While much of the economic situation seems beyond our control," shared Pam, "Gift of Adoption allows you to have direct impact on children who need a home for the holidays and everyday thereafter. You don't have to adopt to give a child a family."
