SUNNYVALE, Calif. & TOKYO - (Business Wire) Neterion, Inc., the industry leader in 10 Gigabit Ethernet (10 GbE) adapters for server and storage environments, today announced an OEM agreement with Fujitsu Limited, to supply Neterion’s third generation 10 GbE adapters for Fujitsu SPARC®-based servers. The 10 GbE adapter option is now available to the general public on Fujitsu SPARC Enterprise servers. Fujitsu SPARC Enterprise Mission Critical Models offer optimal performance, reliability and virtualization for the world’s best-practice application processing. With market leading quad core SPARC64 VII processors, the high-end SPARC Enterprise M9000 model has world leading reliability and scalability up to 256 CPU cores and 4TB of memory. Compact SPARC Enterprise Throughput Computing Models provide a high throughput profile, best suited to Web and application servers. With outstanding throughput performance, these models make business growth easy, while keeping system investments low.
With the addition of state-of-the art 10 Gigabit Ethernet, Fujitsu sharpens its offering for the enterprise and wide range of applications. Large scale deployments of network-distributed processing will require high bandwidth and ultra-low latency, two domains where 10 GbE excels.
Neterion’s 10 GbE adapters were qualified across the entire line of Fujitsu SPARC Enterprise servers running the Solaris 10 operating system, while supporting networking features such as remote boot. With high throughput and best-of-breed CPU efficiency, Neterion’s 10 GbE adapters deliver a level of performance fully scalable with Fujitsu’s SPARC Enterprise servers.
Neterion was selected by Fujitsu against a robust field of competitors for its superior reliability, availability and serviceability (RAS) features and solid track record in Solaris support. In addition, the two companies had already collaborated on a high throughput network solution for another Fujitsu platform. The proven performance in that solution was another reason to collaborate again.
“The Fujitsu SPARC Enterprise family serves the needs of our most demanding enterprise customers, who require the highest reliability and performance for their mission critical applications,” stated Mr. Kenichi Sakai, General Manager, Mission Critical Server Division of Fujitsu Ltd. “Neterion’s 10 Gigabit Ethernet technology offers a very robust connectivity solution, and is ready to meet the increasing demand for a competitive edge in an always-connected world.”
“We are very pleased that Fujitsu has selected Neterion and HHT,” noted Mr. Keita Miyoshi, General Manager, Opt-Communication Department of Hitachi High-Technologies. “Neterion’s latest 10 GbE adapter, with best-in-class reliability, highest performance and lowest CPU overhead is now paired with the leader in SPARC-based enterprise servers; we are very proud to have played an active role in this new success in Japan.”
“Neterion is honored to have been selected by Fujitsu, the leading Japanese enterprise server provider,” said Todd Oseth, President and CEO of Neterion. “Neterion’s 10 GbE adapters are designed to meet the demanding requirements of large enterprise customers by offering not only outstanding performance but data center grade reliability as well. By providing mature Solaris drivers, Neterion offers a complete, highly reliable networking solution to Fujitsu for their enterprise customers."
