SAN FRANCISCO, CA -- 10/26/09 --
Flashpoint Public Relations, an agency
that partners with innovative lifestyle, family and technology brands, was
named the winner of the 2009 PR News Platinum Award in the "Branding"
category. Finalist alongside Samsung and Siemens, PR News ultimately
awarded Flashpoint PR on behalf of LEGO Systems Inc. for its stand-out
campaign "Go Miniman Go: Tapping Nostalgia to Bolster Adult Affinity for
LEGO Brand" at the 2009 PR News Platinum PR Awards presentation on
Wednesday afternoon, October 21, 2009. The agency also received honorable
mention for the campaign in the "Anniversary" category.
PR News' Platinum PR Awards salute the year's most outstanding
communications initiatives and programs in the highly competitive and
dynamic PR arena. The coveted awards set the industry benchmark for
excellence across all areas of PR. The winners of the Platinum PR Awards
are from corporations, agencies and nonprofits large and small who took
chances, made tremendous strides and understand the power of public
relations. The "Branding" category recognizes a highly effective campaign
in which a corporate brand is enthusiastically received by its target
audiences, where the essence of the product or purpose of the company is
effectively conveyed via the brand campaign.
"It is a tremendous honor to be recognized by PR News for a campaign that
allowed our team to stretch our definition of PR, to collectively change
our mindset from being the public relations team to being the brand's
marketing team," said Kristin Greene, principal of Flashpoint PR. "Small
but mighty, the Flashpoint team fed off one another's creativity, energy
and smarts to have fun while producing the best result for this campaign.
We are very fortunate to have a long-standing, mutually respectful and
collaborative working relationship with our LEGO team and look forward to
more exciting campaigns in the future."
"The chemistry between our in-house team and our Flashpoint team is
contagious and powerful; thus bringing an honesty and creativity that
allows us to be nimble and highly effective," said Michael McNally,
director brand relations, LEGO Systems, Inc. "Very few teams are fortunate
enough to have this kind of relationship, but it truly does make a
difference in taking a campaign from 'could be great' to 'beyond our
wildest expectations.' This relationship alongside unconventional thinking
was integral to the success of our campaign and I'm pleased and proud to
see that recognized."
