SANTA CLARA, CA -- 02/25/08 -- FastScale® Technology, Inc., provider of next generation software virtualization and provisioning solutions, today announced that FastScale Composer(TM) Suite has received the Network World 2008 "Best of the Tests" award in the Virtualization Management category.

Network World tested more than 170 products across a very wide range of technologies to select the "2008 Best of the Tests" winners. Network World's Lab Alliance and testing editors rigorously evaluate products based on the critical network functions they address, and awards are based on those products receiving the highest scores. Only twelve products received the designation this year, with FastScale Composer Suite being one of two products topping the list in the Virtualization Management category.

"We have high hopes for FastScale's combination of products as it cuts away needless junk from virtual instances, making operating system and application instances lean and unencumbered by unused code," reported Network World Alliance test members Tom Henderson and Rand Dvorak in the December 2007 review. "FastScale's product can shoehorn many more atomic scaled-down virtual machines onto a VMware host license than might normally be otherwise possible." Additionally, during the testing process, Henderson comments that while reduction mileage will vary, they found at least a 3-to-1 reduction in footprint for memory use, coupled with a discernible decrease in CPU utilization.

The Best of the Tests product winners were published today, February 25, 2008 and can be found at http://www.networkworld.com/bestproducts/2008/. The results of the "Clear Choice" Virtualization Management test can be found at http://www.networkworld.com/reviews/2007/121707-virtual-management-fast-scale.html.

"A 'Best of the Tests' designation from Network World is strong independent validation that FastScale Composer Suite stands out in the industry as an exceptional software virtualization solution that really delivers. When we brought this innovative technology to market last year, we knew we were delivering a new class of automation for managing complex, performance-intensive virtual and physical environments," said Lynn LeBlanc, CEO of FastScale. "This recognition places FastScale Composer Suite in an elite group of products that customers can be confident will deliver both innovation and results -- performance, scalability, ease-of-use, and most importantly, cost savings."

Earlier this month, FastScale introduced FastScale Composer Suite 2.0 which adds new capabilities and enhancements focused on scalability and rich configuration management of large, multi-thousand server installations. For more information, contact sales@fastscale.com or visit www.fastscale.com.
