TOPIC: According to a recent Reuters article, "Shoplifting and employee theft have been on the rise this year as the economy weakened and the trend is likely to accelerate during the holiday season." This trend is not entirely new. Back in April, the National Retail Federation reported the results of a survey in which 74 percent of the 116 retailer executives polled noted an increase in shoplifting this year and 79 percent reported a rise in employee theft. Those executives also said that thieves were becoming more aggressive.
