This trend is not entirely new. Back in April, the National Retail Federation reported the results of a survey in which 74 percent of the 116 retailer executives polled noted an increase in shoplifting this year and 79 percent reported a rise in employee theft. Those executives also said that thieves were becoming more aggressive.
