COLUMBUS, Ohio - (Business Wire) Exacter, Inc. was the only company at the Tech Columbus 2009 Business Innovation Awards to take home two honors, winning for Most Outstanding Service and Outstanding Start-Up Company. A Business Innovation Award from Tech Columbus is the most prestigious honor for tech companies in the State of Ohio. Candidates must be nominated by an outside party and undergo a rigorous evaluation process from fellow business leaders in the state. This year over 240 companies competed for 13 awards, with Exacter, Inc. winning two of them!
“Exacter has an innovative technology, but I think what distinguishes our business is the commitment of our people to do whatever it takes to make our utility customers successful,” states Exacter President and CEO, John Lauletta. “We are a lean company that has demonstrated the ability to react quickly to the constant changes that occur when you are pioneering a new technology and service.”
Exacter provides outage-avoidance/infrastructure-hardening services to utilities using their proprietary, patented sensor-array technology. The company is also emerging as an important player for helping utilities prepare for Smart Grid deployments.
“Not only do we have a deep understanding of the problems our technology solves, but we have lots of deep relationships within the utility industry which have helped us achieve remarkable market worldwide acceptance in less than three years,” adds Vice President, Geoffrey Bibo.
Over 100 utilities have used Exacter technology to survey over 2 million utility poles across North America. The company has also secured international alliances with partners in the UK, New Zealand, Canada, Mexico, and Australia. In fact, in November, Exacter won Best New and Innovative Product Award at Australia’s top industry trade show.
Over 1200 business leaders and media were in attendance for the February 4 Business Innovation Awards ceremony — a new record for the event. When asked what’s next for Exacter, Lauletta states, “We have a great name among utilities and strong business relationships in place. As resources come together, 2010 could be our biggest year of growth yet.”
