LOS ANGELES - (Business Wire) Fox Soccer Channel and Fox Sports en Español have joined forces with FC Barcelona, the American Youth Soccer Organization (AYSO) and Malaria No More to launch the global More than a Club: Kick it to Malaria initiative by launching an awareness campaign titled Every Goal Saves a Life. Starting September 2, 30-second public service announcements will run on both networks to inform viewers that as they cheer on their favorite teams during the 2008/2009 season, every goal scored will represent a donated mosquito net to families affected by malaria in Africa.

Fox Soccer Channel will make a $10 contribution to Malaria No More for each goal scored during its live and premiere telecasts of the following leagues and tournaments: Major League Soccer, Barclays Premier League, Serie A, Argentine First Division, FA Cup and the CONCACAF Champions League.

Fox Sports en Español will also make a $10 contribution for each goal scored in its live and premiere telecasts of the Copa Nissan Sudamericana, FIFA Club World Cup, InterLiga, Mexican Soccer and Copa Santander Libertadores.

The Every Goal Saves a Life campaign ties our networks coverage of world-class soccer into a critical humanitarian initiative, the prevention of malaria, said David Sternberg, executive vice president and general manager of Fox Soccer Channel and Fox Sports en Español. We look forward to engaging our viewers in raising awareness and funding to fight Malaria and supporting FC Barcelona, Malaria No More and the American Youth Soccer Organization (AYSO).

Additional awareness for the Malaria No More campaign will be driven by Fox Soccer Channels live call-in program Fox Football Fone-in, which runs weekly throughout the European soccer season. A running tally of goals scored and the channels financial contribution will be tracked on the networks websites at www.foxsoccer.com and www.foxsportsla.msn.com. The Every Goal Saves a Life campaign will run until June 2009.

To increase awareness of the program, the leading networks will also be airing PSAs about the campaign featuring players from the acclaimed Spanish soccer club, FC Barcelona.

We applaud the support of Fox Soccer Channel and Fox Sports en Español whose Every Goal Saves a Life campaign will only strengthen our efforts to fight malaria, said Joan Laporta, President of FC Barcelona.
