New York, NY (Vocus) November 8, 2009 -- EQM, Inc., a privately owned and operated marketing firm, is sponsoring a three-year-old boy from Guatemala through The Children’s International Sponsorship Program, which helps impoverished children by providing benefits and services that help them grow up confident, healthy, and educated.
President of EQM, Elana Stein, and her staff personally selected the child – whose family’s income was under $122 a month - to sponsor. As a result of their monetary donation, the EQM staff of 30 has provided him with money for food, medicine, doctor’s visits, school, and gifts on his birthday and Christmas. Through the sponsorship, EQM will also contribute to dental care, malnutrition screenings, nutritional support, sturdy clothing and shoes, school supplies, and improved access to education.
“All of us grew up watching commercials for sponsoring children in different countries for ‘just a dollar a day,’” Elana Stein said. “Their faces remain with us forever. Now that we’re adults and contributing members of society, we decided to choose the charity we have all known and loved since we were children.”
Each year, EQM picks a charity that they will donate to. This year, through their donation and sponsorship to Children’s International, the EQM staff has come together as a team. Each quarter, EQM has been writing letters to the child and have received letters back from him.
“I feel proud to be part of an organization that cares so much about people that they chose to sponsor a child in this year’s donation,” said Taylor Howard, assistant manager. “It’s exciting to know that we’re making such a large difference in a young child’s life.”
