- (Business Wire) Having anytime-anywhere access to financial information for business customers is imperative; especially to efficiently manage businesses’ cash flow in today’s economic environment. According to Aite, more than one-third of small businesses would consider using mobile banking if their financial institution offered it. They conclude in a recent report that while banks realize the additional convenience it offers to customers, they are still slow to roll out the service, especially to business customers. Additionally, Aite cites that businesses are looking for increased functionality in commercial mobile banking services, such as wire approvals and positive pay; therefore, banks must look beyond consumer mobile banking applications to support business customers’ needs.

Online Banking Solutions (OBS) recently launched its Messenger Mobile Service, a new mobile channel to support commercial banking transactions for banks’ business customers. In addition to TEXT/SMS notifications, users can view account balance, transaction information and special reports; initiate account-to-account transfers, pre-defined payments or payment batches; and receive service alerts, payment advices and urgent notifications. Messenger Mobile Services provides a mobile banking channel with applications for iPhonetm and Blackberrytm smart phones.
