NEW YORK, Nov. 3 CheckYourNeck-display

NEW YORK, Nov. 3 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- EHE International and the Light of Life Foundation (LOL) for thyroid cancer (www.checkyourneck.com) are pleased to announce the unveiling of a window display at Rockefeller Center reminding Americans to "Check Your Neck" for thyroid cancer. The window will prominently feature images from the LOL's public awareness campaign featuring survivors of the disease.

"Awareness is the key to early diagnosis and treatment of thyroid cancer," said Joan Shey the president and founder of LOL and a thyroid cancer survivor. "It's appropriate that as we head into winter and begin to wrap our wool scarves around our necks that we think about checking that vital organ that keeps our bodies regulated."

Purple scarves, the symbol for LOL, will be prominent in the window display as will butterflies, which are a symbol of the thyroid. The foundation recently re-launched its web-site to offer information and educational materials on the diagnosis and treatment of thyroid cancer.

The window, located at 10 Rockefeller Plaza, may be viewed by the public from November 2, 2009 - November 30, 2009. "EHE is pleased to be able to offer the Light of Life Foundation this window to raise awareness of the importance of early detection of thyroid cancer," said Deborah McKeever, EHE President.

In 2008, 35,000+ new cases of thyroid cancer were diagnosed and treated. Because of the excellent overall survival after treatment for thyroid cancer, there are 350,000+ thyroid cancer survivors living in the U.S. The incidence of thyroid cancer in women is rising faster than any other cancer in the U.S.

Founded in 1997, the Light of Life Foundation mission is to improve the quality of life of thyroid cancer patients through continual education of the general and the medical community, and by promoting research and development to improve thyroid cancer care.
