(EMAILWIRE.COM, November 03, 2009 ) Danbury, CT – Dryer vent cleaning, repair and proper dryer vent installation are the best ways to prevent clothes dryer fires. Don Brusseau, owner of Dryer Vent Wizard in Connecticut, was saddened by the news of a recent dryer related fire that resulted in the death of two pet parakeets. “It’s a shame when people are injured or pets are killed by a fire that could have easily been prevented,” said Brusseau.

Fire officials found burned clothing in the clothes dryer, a possible indication that the dryer was the cause of a fire resulting in extensive heat and smoke damage to a condo. Residents were not at home; two pet parakeets were killed.

Don Brusseau explained how this could have happened. “Clothes dryers require proper air-flow to do their job. Heat and moisture must be able to escape the dryer drum and go out of the home through the dryer vent. Dryer lint also travels through the dryer ducts, but it rarely makes it all the way to the vent outside. Because of the moisture, it sticks to the sides and builds up, reducing air flow and causing the dryer to overheat. Annual dryer vent cleaning is required for even the very best dryer vent system to increase dryer efficiency and reduce the risk of a dryer fire.”

Dryer Vent Wizard franchisees are required to educate their customers while providing dryer exhaust services. In addition to providing tips to his customers, Don Brusseau joins franchisees in their effort to promote public awareness by writing articles and creating blogs.
