DALLAS - (Business Wire) Today, Beck Technology released DProfiler™ with RSMeans 2008 Version 2.0. The newest release of DProfiler™, the world’s first and only macro BIM application, provides the largest set of end user requested functionality to date. Many of the newest features provide integration of DProfiler™, into the every day workflow of General Contractors. Some of the specific enhancements to the application include:

  • Image Underlay

This feature allows the user to import and scale images from several formats into DProfiler including jpeg’s and PDF’s. This is especially helpful when creating a DProfiler model from a set of hand sketches or drawings provided in PDF.

  • Microsoft Excel Cost Import

This feature provides a method to import cost data for a building directly from Microsoft Excel. This feature is customizable and provides a mechanism to define line items, collections and building types.

  • Blended Materials

A “Blended Material” is a cladding material used to represent a blend of other cladding materials such as, 60% brick and 40% punched opening. This feature enables rapid application of cladding, with accurate takeoff of materials, without the need to define specific cladding designs.

  • Match properties

This new feature enables the user to select a model component and selectively apply its property values to other components of the same type. This feature for example enables the user to set costs for a single slab and then match these costs in any number of other slabs in the model.

  • Mirror Copy

This feature enables users to create a mirrored copy of any component in the DProfiler model. Since many projects have an extensive use of symmetry, this feature will allow users to effectively reduce the amount of time it takes to create the DProfiler model.

About Beck Technology

As a company with nearly a century of experience in the construction of high quality buildings, The Beck Group has an impressive portfolio of projects that shaped the sky lines of cities such as Tampa, Dallas, Atlanta, Phoenix and Los Angeles.

Beck Technology began as an internal team within The Beck Group formed to develop software technology to support their efforts in construction, architecture and real estate development. As a part of The Beck Group, Beck Technology was uniquely positioned to create a new type of software tool that integrates 3D modeling with conceptual cost estimating.

Beck Technology's flagship program, called DProfiler™, was designed specifically to integrate these disciplines enabling a substantial reduction in rework due to late design changes. A simple, yet intelligent 3D model drives an estimate that can be quickly created and modified. Changes to the model change the estimate. The user can evaluate numerous project alternatives with very little effort and convey the assumptions clearly to all participants.

Beck Technology debuted DProfiler™ as commercially available software in late 2006. Today, hundreds of firms are utilizing this BIM tool to get ahead in the critical, early stages of the preconstruction process.
