(EMAILWIRE.COM, July 04, 2008 ) PLYMOUTH, MI – As they say, there’s always something going on in Downtown Plymouth. Grownups, however, often get to enjoy the lion’s share of those activities. So this year the merchants of Plymouth’s Downtown district got together and decided it was time to give the kids a turn. And with that, Kidpalooza was born.

On Saturday, August 2, from 10am to 4pm, kids will rule Kellogg Park and the entire downtown. The central activity will be a treasure hunt that will lead kids through various stores and businesses – playing games and doing activities along the way – to earn tickets redeemable for prizes.

Along with all the fun events happening inside the stores, we’ll also have entertainment along the streets of downtown Plymouth,”explained Jessica Perlman, owner of Plymouth’s Creatopia Pottery and chairperson of Kidpalooza. “We’re going to have different entertainers at the end of each street. Everyone from balloon artists, face painters and magicians will be there.”

In addition, kids and their families can expect to find a different activity or game in all participating downtown businesses, family fitness activities in Kellogg Park and much, much more.

“This is really about families discovering the treasures of Downtown Plymouth,” Perlman said, and Plymouth is ready to show off those treasures to kids and their parents alike. “It’s exciting to be doing something new and different,” she added of Kidpalooza’s debut, “I really feel that this event speaks to the heart of our downtown.”

To participate in Kidpalooza, kids and their families may arrive in Kellogg Park any time after 10am on August 2nd for registration. Most events are geared toward children ages 6-12, though all ages are welcome. Young children should be escorted by an adult, as childcare is not provided. Parents with questions or concerns may call the Plymouth Downtown Development Authority office at 734-455-1453 or visit www.downtownplymouth.org.
