In addition to providing Big Tex with new duds, Dickies has also committed to donating school clothes to the Dallas Independent School District (DISD) with the help of Big Tex fans all over the world. Between September 16 and October 19, 2008 - the closing day of the State Fair of Texas - Dickies will donate a garment to a DISD student for every person who becomes a “fan” of Big Tex on his new Facebook page. It’s a simple, no-cost and fun way to get involved in the Fair and give back to the local community.
“Dickies’ partnership with Big Tex and the State Fair of Texas is such a natural fit,” says Misty Otto, public relations director for Dickies. “Big Tex needed new clothes, as do many schoolchildren in the Dallas area. We can’t think of a better way to show your support of Big Tex and enthusiasm for the Fair than to join his free Facebook page and help provide school clothes to students in DISD.”
