U.S. Department of Homeland Security to fund early-detection, rapid-response scene monitoring solution for public safety organizations across the nation PRINCETON, N.J., June 17
PRINCETON, N.J., June 17 /PRNewswire/ -- SightLogix, Inc. announced today
that its Wireless Perimeter Surveillance & Scene Monitoring Rapid Deployment
Kit has been selected for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's (DHS)
Commercial Equipment Direct Assistance Program (CEDAP).
The DHS CEDAP program is part of a coordinated effort to strengthen the
nation's level of preparedness with pre-emptive and post-incident management
security solutions for state and local jurisdictions. As part of the program,
CEDAP will provide the SightLogix Rapid Deployment Surveillance Kit, along
with Cisco's Video Surveillance Manager, which is a combination of their Media
Server, Operations Manager, and Virtual Matrix software, running on a portable
Panasonic industrial strength, ruggedized ToughBook, as well as related
training to eligible public safety organizations across the nation. More
information and application guidance is available on the SightLogix CEDAP page

"We're honored to support DHS efforts to transform the front lines of our
homeland defense from a reactive to a pre-emptive posture," said John
Romanowich, SightLogix president and CEO. "By incorporating SightLogix'
real-time, GPS-registered surveillance system with in-camera analytics, DHS
empowers our nation's first responders with the situational awareness needed
to detect, deter, respond and recover from incidents that occur on a local,
county or state level."
"Entrepreneurs are the engine of innovation and job growth," said New
Jersey Representative Rush Holt (D-NJ), who serves on the House Permanent
Select Committee on Intelligence and is the Chairman of the Select
Intelligence Oversight Panel. "SightLogix is a good example of how an
entrepreneurial Central New Jersey company has grown and prospered and
contributed useful products, such as these products selected by the Department
of Homeland Security. I congratulate SightLogix for receiving this DHS award
to provide security surveillance equipment."
"As a leader in converged network security, Cisco understands the critical
need to support public safety organizations with cooperative, IP-based tools
that interoperate seamlessly," said Bill Stuntz, vice president and general
manager of Cisco's physical security business unit. "By offering an integrated
video and security package built on open standards, DHS strengthens local
jurisdictions' abilities to share and analyze intelligence and take
appropriate security precautions. We're proud to support these efforts through
the CEDAP program."
"College and university campuses create complex security challenges that
reach deep into our local communities," said Steven Healy, director of public
safety at Princeton University and past president of the International
Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators (IACLEA). "As an
automated intelligent video surveillance solution, the SightLogix Rapid
Deployment Surveillance Kit enhances campus safety officers' preparedness to
defend against, respond to, and recover from any event. I applaud the DHS
commitment to strengthen safety and security on our nation's campuses through
the CEDAP program."
SightLogix technology has been deployed to protect critical
infrastructures and key resources including Commercial Aviation,
Petro-Chemical, DoD, FEDGOV, Electrical Utilities, Water/Waste Water, Data
Centers, Ports, Borders, Correctional Facilities, and Rail Transportation.
The 2008 CEDAP application period runs from May 30 to June 30, 2008. The
competitive program awards are only made to those agencies or departments that
complete the application process during the allotted time period and who
request equipment that meets their jurisdictional needs and the strategies of
their state Homeland Security Program.
