WASHINGTON, Dec. 4 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- DBTS is pleased to announce that Karla Gonzalez, DBTS' CEO and President, will be an honoree at the very prestigious awards gala for the 50 Most Powerful Minority CEO's and Corporate Executives on Thursday, February 5, 2009. The Minority Enterprise Executive Council (MEE Council) is hosting the event. This event will honor executives of minority and women-owned businesses that are in the forefront of American leadership across the country. The 50 honorees were chosen based on their commitment to their community, business growth, professional excellence, and influence in shaping our economic future. Other honorees during the event will include: H.R. Crawford, Chairman of the Board, Metropolitan Washington Airport Authority; William E. Milliken, Founder & Vice Chairman, Communities In Schools; Hubin Jiang, CEO, Ecompex, Inc.; Johnathan Rodgers, President, TV One; Karla Gonzalez, CEO, DBTS, Inc.; Carol Williams, President/CEO, Carol H. Williams Advertising; Alfonzo Porter, CEO, Porter Education and Communications.

The Honorable Lurita Doan is our keynote speaker. Ms. Doan is the host of Leadership Matters, on FederalNews Radio AM 1500. From 2006 to 2008, she served as the Administrator the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA). She is the first woman and the first African American woman to serve as chief executive of GSA.

Special invited guests include Congressman Jesse Jackson, Jr. (D-IL) and Oprah Winfrey, CEO, Harpo Productions. Other guests will include Fortune 500 companies; political and community leaders; government officials; corporate executives; and members of the media.

The theme of the gala is "Celebrating Outstanding Leadership and Success." The gala will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at the Omni Shoreham Hotel, located at 2500 Calvert Street, NW, Washington, D.C. 20008. This is a black tie event honoring fifty minority and women business leaders across the country. The Gala guests will include Fortune 500 companies; political and community leaders; government officials; corporate executives; and members of the media.

Proceeds from the event will be donated to the non-profit organization, Communities In Schools (www.cisnet.org). Communities In Schools is a national, 30-year old organization that offers over two million students per year the opportunity to have a safe learning environment; marketable skills after graduation; and the ability to give back to their community.
