SINGAPORE, Oct. 14 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- MRO ASIA -- The Turkish Engine Center Board of Managers named Daniel Tennant as the new business' first general manager. The Turkish Engine Center, a Pratt & Whitney and Turkish Airlines Technic joint venture, is expected to open in the second half of 2009. Pratt & Whitney is a United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX) company and Turkish Airlines Technic Inc. is a Turkish Airlines (ISE: THYAO) company.

The Turkish Engine Center is being built at Sabiha Gokcen International Airport on the Anatolian peninsula and will meet the U.S. Green Building Council's Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold standard. The center will provide maintenance, repair and overhaul services for the CFM56(R) engine family and V2500-A5 engine.

"The Turkish Engine Center will be one of the leading jet engine overhaul shops in the world," said Tennant. "This facility will be able to overhaul up to 200 engines annually and is conveniently located for customers in Europe, Asia and the Middle East."

Most recently, Tennant was the System Development and Demonstration Program Manager for the F135 engine, which powers the F-35 Lightning II (Joint Strike Fighter). Tennant joined Pratt & Whitney in 1976 as a JT9D engine control engineer and has held jobs with increasing responsibility in both engineering and management.
