Representatives Markey & Hastings & Senator Inhofe, as well as many experts from both sides of the climate change policy, discuss and debate at a Washington Briefing convened by The Washington Times WASHINGTON, Nov. 3
WASHINGTON, Nov. 3 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- A Washington Briefing titled Advancing the Global Debate on Climate Change Policy will be held at the Willard Intercontinental Hotel on November 4. The 9.00-4.30 event will bring together scientists and policy experts, members of Congress and international leaders in a robust debate on the pros and cons of climate change legislation being developed in the Congress, and the agreements that might emerge from the Copenhagen Climate Summit in December.
Among the issues discussed will be: How effective will climate change legislation be in protecting the environment? What will its impact be on job-creation, the cost of living, industry and other sectors?
Washington Briefings are a new conferencing program developed by The Washington Times in partnership with East West Communications.
Closing out the day will be President Klaus who argues that the current approach to global climate change agreements is based on science that is far from settled, and that governments should be cautious in passing legislation that imposes significant costs on individuals and companies in the name of that science.
Early in the afternoon, Representative Ed Markey (D-MA) will discuss the House bill he introduced with Henry Waxman. Following this several members of congress including Doc Hastings (R-WA), who is opposed to the bill and on the Senate side, Senator Inhofe (R-OK) will outline their views of the Boxer-Kerry Bill being debated there.
Lunchtime speakers will be renowned scientists Dr. Fred Singer president of the Science & Environmental Policy Project and Dr. Joe Romm, Senior Fellow of the Center for American Policy, will present their views on the state of climate science today.
Morning sessions will feature a range of leading experts and advocates in this field.
The all-day conference will be moderated by energy expert Jeff Birnbaum, Managing Editor-Digital of The Washington Times.
