ANNAPOLIS, Md., May 16 MD-RiskWatch-Cybrinth
ANNAPOLIS, Md., May 16 /PRNewswire/ -- Stephen Spoonamore, CEO of Cybrinth, Inc., announced today that RiskWatch and Cybrinth have signed an agreement to co-develop a web-based assessment software program to measure compliance with the FERC (Federal Energy Regulatory Commission) new 2008 Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) Reliability Standards.
FERC, pursuant to the Energy Policy Act of 2005, finalized on February 2, 2006 landmark new rules on the certification of an Electric Reliability Organization and the procedures for the establishment, approval and enforcement of mandatory electric reliability standards. These new procedures are being automated in an easy-to-use compliance assessment software to be called RiskWatch for FERC CIP.
"The use of an automated, repeatable and verifiable way of conducting FERC CIP compliance assessments is the wave of the future in security," said Dr. Ron Krutz, Chief Knowledge Officer of Cybrinth. "The complex task of complying with these new regulations will be streamlined by the use of the RiskWatch for FERC software. The ability to use a web-based program to incorporate input from people in different parts of the organization and be able to compare results over time creates a much more comprehensive assessment."
The new software will be available July 1, 2008 and will be part of a total service which will give clients the training and expertise to demonstrate compliance with every aspect of the CIP, which includes: security management, an electronic perimeter, personnel considerations, physical security, systems management, incident reporting and also recovery planning.
